Thomas Cahill, PhD Arizona State University

Dr. Thomas Cahill is an associate professor at the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at ASU. His research efforts focus on environmental and analytical chemistry. His goal is to determine the impact of chemicals on ecosystems and organisms and discover antiviral compounds in medicinal plants. Recently, he started researching air quality, particularly determining the source of pollutants in the environment. He has presented his findings at several internationally acclaimed conferences, and his work has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, such as Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.

Dr. Cahill has a doctorate in environmental sciences and health from the University of Nevada, a master’s in ecology, and a bachelor’s in wildlife and fisheries from the University of California.

Chenglong Li, PhD University of Florida

Dr. Chenglong Li is the Nicholas Bodor Professor in drug discovery and the professor of medicinal chemistry at the University of Florida. He has extensive real-world experience, having worked as a postdoctoral researcher in structural biology at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research and the Scripps Research Institute as a research associate.

At UF, he teaches or has taught courses such as advanced research; research for doctoral dissertation; supervised research; pharmacotherapy; drug design; and research procedures in medicinal chemistry. Before teaching at UF, he taught medicinal chemistry and pharmacognosy courses at Ohio State University. His research projects revolve around organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular recognition, and drug design. Dr. Li earned his doctorate in biophysics from Cornell University, and his master’s and bachelor’s in physical chemistry from Beijing University.

Stefanie K Gazda, PhD University of Florida

Dr. Stefanie K Gazda is an associate instructional professor and the coordinator of the biology online major at the University of Florida. She teaches or has taught courses such as general ecology; an introduction to biology; and animal behavior. Her teaching and research interests are focused on promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion within classes, the role of spatial structure and environmental variables that shape large predator and prey habitat usage, and the application of the one health initiative. Her work has been published in journals such as Marine Mammal Science and Royal Society Open Science.
